Case Study: Drive-in racking system

JS Bailey Cheese Ltd

High-density drive-in racking system designed and delivered to maximize storage efficiency and support business growth

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Palletower designed and delivered a high-density drive-in racking system for JS Bailey Cheese Ltd, adding 760 pallet positions to the company's new warehouse facility.

The brief

JS Bailey Cheese Ltd needed a custom-built drive-in racking system for a new warehouse facility. The objective was to maximise storage efficiency while supporting straightforward inventory management as the business continued to grow.

From the outset, Palletower worked closely with the main contractor and senior representatives from JS Bailey Cheese Ltd to ensure the racking system aligned with the building design and operational workflow.

The challenge

The project required close coordination as construction specifications evolved. Changes to supporting structures affected rack positions, heights and specifications, so the drawings had to be updated throughout the process.

The final solution needed to make efficient use of available vertical and horizontal space while remaining practical for warehouse operation.

PROJECT DETAILS

Palletower’s solution

Palletower designed three substantial blocks of drive-in racking, with each block reaching a maximum height of 9.20 metres. The system introduced 760 pallet positions across 32 lanes, with each lane capable of holding up to six pallets deep.

Palletower Design Consultant Nick Robinson played a central role from concept to installation, continually revising the racking plans to reflect changing construction requirements and keep the project aligned with the customer brief.

The result

The completed drive-in racking system delivered a robust, efficient and high-capacity storage solution for JS Bailey Cheese Ltd. The final installation was tailored to the specific demands of the warehouse and created a practical platform for ongoing growth.
