Sweeney Todds, a distinguished supplier of high-end flooring, partnered with Palletower following discussions at the Harrogate Flooring Show. The collaboration centred around their upcoming warehouse construction, where distinct storage needs demanded customised solutions.
The Challenge
Embarking on a transformative journey to optimise Sweeney Todds’ warehouse, our project seamlessly integrated pallet racking and mezzanine structures. Beyond conventional storage solutions, the project unfolded with meticulous planning to cater to the distinctive requirements of Sweeney Todds’ inventory.
A unique challenge surfaced with the specific need for a stillage precisely positioned adjacent to a designated rack. This bespoke requirement epitomised the project’s departure from ordinary storage solutions, highlighting our teams commitment to meeting specialised needs with innovative solutions.
PROJECT DETAILS
The Challenge
Embarking on a transformative journey to optimise Sweeney Todds’ warehouse, our project seamlessly integrated pallet racking and mezzanine structures. Beyond conventional storage solutions, the project unfolded with meticulous planning to cater to the distinctive requirements of Sweeney Todds’ inventory.
A unique challenge surfaced with the specific need for a stillage precisely positioned adjacent to a designated rack. This bespoke requirement epitomised the project’s departure from ordinary storage solutions, highlighting our teams commitment to meeting specialised needs with innovative solutions.
Custom Solutions for Extended Products
The complexity heightened as we addressed the distinct dimensions of Sweeney Todds’ products, averaging an extended length of 2.9 meters—surpassing the typical pallet rack specifications of 2.7 meters. In response, a custom solution was meticulously crafted, introducing thicker decks and widening bays to 3.3 meters. This not only ensured optimal functionality but also fortified the structural integrity of the entire storage system.
Precision Integration
An additional layer of consideration was introduced to the project as we precisely aligned the mezzanine height with the adjacent office doorway. This strategic precision, though adding complexity, exemplified our unwavering dedication to achieving a harmonious integration of storage structures within the broader operational environment.
Protection & Durability
To enhance the durability of the entire storage system, polymer guards were added to all uprights, providing robust protection against potential damage. Furthermore, polymer guards were introduced to the exposed ends, mitigating the risk of damage from warehouse vehicles, and ensuring the longevity and resilience of the storage infrastructure.
Execution & Results
Navigating the challenge of accommodating longer products, Palletower innovatively addressed this by implementing a tailored solution with extended bay dimensions. The mezzanine height was meticulously aligned with the office doorway through thorough planning and execution, showcasing Palletower’s attention to detail and ability to meet specific client requirements.
The entire project, encompassing planning and execution, was successfully completed within the estimated timeframe of 3 weeks. This efficient delivery reinforced Palletower’s commitment to meeting client needs promptly and effectively.
Future Expansion
Sweeney Todds is now looking to integrate additional shelves within their warehouse. Their purpose will be to accommodate smaller products and their picking. To facilitate this expansion, we are providing Sweeney Todds with new beams and timber decks, meticulously tailored to support the incorporation of low-height shelves. This strategic addition not only caters to the diverse range of products within their inventory but also introduces the opportunity for additional picking levels, further optimising the warehouse’s functionality.
